Pearlywerkz - Singapore Beauty and Lifestyle Blog

I am back to IDS Clinic for a skin review and to try out the Hydro Therapeutics Treatment for the first time. I have been a good gal following closely to the facial products prescribed to me previously by Dr SK Tan and now Dr Heng.

Dr Heng mentioned that there is not much he can do for my skin eczema issues except to be prescribing me with creams such as (SG, 1/4 Bet & CC) to "contain" them and keep them in control. He assured me that my face was getting better and under control since the previous visit.

I guess partly also because of my new profession dealing with animals, it can be very tough to be completely healed. Though I always argue with people that it's a myth and not a fact that those furry critters can cause bad skin. I have to be disciplined and continue to wear a mask when dealing with them.

I am glad to be telling my success stories with IDS since my very first visit because I have witnessed positive transformation on my skin. I usually give up a certain product after a month or so of using them either because of the complexity of application, ineffective product or due to sensitivity arising from usage of product.

By far, this has been my longest staying brand in the recent years. I have been sticking to IDS since May 2014 and I certainly hope their products will continue to work for me.

You will be pleased to know that first consultation fee has been waived off since 2014 and continued in the year 2015 until further notice. So if you are interested to give them a try, why not?

After the face review and prescription of creams for my eczema. I was brought into this small and cozy room by Nurse Kym for my Hydro Therapeutics Treatment. This is my very first facial service with IDS as well as the first in 2015.

The normal face cleansing procedures and pimple extraction was done during the treatment, but there is no face steaming & eyebrow plucking in IDS's case compared to your normal facial in a facial salon.

I could tell from Kym's service that she was very seasoned and no newbie to this treatment. Every step was well executed, explained and made hassle-free for me.

The Hydro Therapeutics Treatment consist of 4 steps.

- Microdermabrasion

- Ultrasound

- Iontophorosis

- Whitening Mask

This is the Hydrafacial equipment used in majority of the hydra facials. I am no stranger to this machine as my previous hydra facials was done using this exact same machine too.

IDS made used of this machine as a water microdermabrasion to jet stream Multi Mineral Solutions to take off dead cells off the top layer of the skin.

Using the Ultrasound machine, the skin scrubber then removes the comedones off my face. These are the black and white heads which are loosen so that they can be removed easily when the scrubber scrabs along the skin. Pimple extraction was done during this stage.

Next, using Iontophorosis, vitamins and whitening serum are infused into my skin before a whitening mask was applied to enhance the overall glow and radiance of my skin.

The end result (photograph below). The customer a.k.a as myself, is very satisfied with the Hydro Therapeutics Treatment. There is this instant glow which you can immediately see from my face after the treatment.

There is no down time and no skin redness even the day after, even for such a sensitive skin like me. Although it does little to help my eczema, it kept the rest of my face glowing with radiance and pumped with moisture.

Whenever your products are no longer working, you need to visit the clinic for a follow up and review your skin. I constantly visit IDS Clinic and my favorite skin doctor Dr Tan would check with me how I am doing. I am still on the same set of my IDS products since May and its almost coming to the 4th month. I am hoping my face would stable down so that we can get rid of the freckles soon!

Sometime back during the follow up review, Dr Tan swapped my OM to UM as my nose was peeling badly and then the results were amazing. Whenever there are bad days for my nose, I would still fall back on my steroid cream, alternating between that and my tub of calming cream. As we all know how strong steroid creams are, Dr Tan is a firm believer that we should not rely too strongly on them.

I used the OM on my neck and UM on my face because I didn't want to waste the OM. They don't come cheap you know! (But i assure you they are the best thing that ever happened to me.... I mean IDS products).
Just let the photos walk you through my IDS skincare journey! No Photoshop, no make-up i promise! Absolutely nothing on my face (except IDS skincare products). I don't even mask as often as I used to now due to my sensitive skin conditions and afraid that I'll get another red nose outbreak.

Sometimes I still get the sensitive red nose, but its getting much better and even if they reoccur, they are in a much controllable condition.

I will tell you how important it is that a face is important to a beauty blogger. Imagine a beauty product post without the blogger in it and how nasty it feels as much as you wanted to be in them? Imagine attending a beauty event and getting comments like, "Oh what happened to you? Just had a breakout or ate something wrong? Why you look so Cui?" (meaning tired) You never sleep is it? Those times I just want to find a hole and hide myself into.
As a beauty blogger, we try on tons of beauty products so frequently. Think about those you see on the blog, and those not. Not all products work for us and not every product works like magic on our skin. Off the shelve products are often the culprit because we use something we "think" works for us.

Sometimes using the wrong product can really freak you or your skin out. If you are looking for a staple product and you want good skin like me (now), I think you should seriously consider IDS Clinic. Just look at my face now! Its glowing and its beaming with joy with the very set of customized products (according to my skin conditions). They work very well and they have yet to fail me.

Ranking my favorite 3 products, coincidentally also according to how much is left.
C Plus, S2 Non-tinted Sunscreen and last but not least T1 Purifying Toner.

Looking at how much make-up remover (C3 Cleansing gel) is left as compared to my C2 (cleanser) also tells you how much less make up I am applying on my skin now.

While C+ really works on lightening my skin tone and pigmentation, it controlled my pimple outbreak really well. S2 is great for daily usage just before heading out to fight the UV rays, because this is non-tinted its great for sensitive skin. As for the T1 Purifying Toner, it smells really great. Whoever said that you shouldn't be using a toner when your skin is oily, you have sensitive skin and that using a toner gives you break outs, bust that myth!

Do you seriously still think they are expensive when there are still so much left over after almost 3 months of usage, both day and night? A dollar spend is a dollar worth! There's no going back to counter products after IDS. I am looking forward to my next review now. Bye Bye Pigmentation please?

Targeting my skin issues and main concerns, Dr Tan prescribed the above products for me after the 1st consultation. You will see many similarities of the products from my previous skincare products because they have the same concept and Dr Tan was previously practicing there.

C2 Gentle Cleanser with RQ-Complex

I was prescribed with the C2 Gentle Cleanser which is a fragrance-free cleanser. It contains anti-inflammatory and antioxidant botanical extracts to moisturize and fight environmental stress. The C2 Gentle Cleanser is suitable for both dry and sensitive skin.

It somehow reminds me of the oat meal shampoo, I wonder is it the smell of the ginko biloba leaf extract mixed with the other ingredients that creates the resemblance. I always thought that sensitive skin people should avoid foaming product but this product proves me wrong. I like how gentle it lifts impurities off my face and how it lathers up quickly with water.

C3 Cleansing Gel and Make Up Remover

This product was prescribed to me for my regular make-up removal. A unique product that also works to neutralize the chlorine in tap water. This product contains lemon grass and rosemary extract, sounds so "herb-ish".

It does sting a little when I try to remove my eye make up while trying to blend the make up remover over my face, otherwise it is an effective make-up remover. You may use it on its own, followed by a toner or follow up with a cleanser to thoroughly cleanse your face.

T1 Purifying Toner with RQ-Complex

One of my top favorite products  because of the spray mist bottle which makes it convenient and environmental friendly. The smell of this product somewhat reminds me of green tea when sprayed but when it settles on the skin it is quite fragrant-less.

C+ C-Plus
C+ contains Vitamin C and E which aims to tackle wrinkles, dark spots, lightens the skin and combats acne. Thanks to C+ my acne is very well under control. Now I hardly get outbreaks (touch wood), only a couple here and there during the time of the month.

OM Oil-Free Moisturizer

Now who says all moisturizers are oily? Dr Tan's Oil-free moisturizer works as well, if not better than the regular oily moisturizers that leaves a shine and oily layer on your face after using. Despite this product containing various seed oils and avocado oil it does not feel oily at all. All it does is moisturize your skin with its Vitamin C and E, an extra booster after having the C+. OM also helps lighten acne scars by suppressing melamine production. This product ensures no nasty breakouts due to having too much oil in your skin.

S2 Suncreen SPF 50

Boosted with Vitamin C yet again, I see that IDS is a fan of Vitamin C, so am I. I am convinced that I have made the right choice! IDS carries both the tinted (a light base color finishing) and non-tinted sunscreen which comes with a high SunScreen SPF of 50. It not only blocks off the infra-red radiation, they keep your skin surface temperature stable even upon sun exposure.

It does not contain any sunscreen chemical smell and leaves no traces upon application.

CC Calming Cream

I was additionally provided with this Calming Cream to be applied on my redness area because of my sensitive skin. This calming cream did not work wonders on my peeling nose and sensitive skin. It leaves a trace of Chinese medicine scent on my fingers after applying it on my skin.

What you've seen above are based on my true and honest thoughts about that particular product and how it reacts on my skin. Everyone's skin is different and reacts differently from certain ingredients, so if you are interested in trying IDS products, I would strongly recommend you to go for consultation first.

Be patient and don't expect instant results! There aren't miracles in this world. Make-up can only help you temporarily cover your flaws and imperfections. Only proper and professional treatment will solve your skin issues thoroughly. There are bound to be hits and misses, just like in my skincare journey. You'll get the result you want only if you press on. :)

My skincare progression after almost 26 days of usage. I have not reached my desired outcome and I am not stopping just yet. Follow me ...

I approached Dr Tan and told him I needed some serious help on my skin sensitivity/redness and freckles which was not solved previously. If I were looking at these photos, I will be wondering the same as you. What's wrong? I don't see any redness?
That was what Dr Tan told me too.

I don't know if you encounter this. You are having a terrible cold and you finally decided to visit the doctor. Just when you are at the clinic, the cold is suddenly gone! That was what happened to me.

Make sure you are ready for the next sequence of photos, I took them when my skin sensitivity worsen. Pardon for the ugly photos, it really brings my morale down. But I am determined to have them stablise down, if not fully cured at IDS. It is the exact same occurrence I had previously.

I started capturing the changes my face went through from Day 15 - Day 21 as the redness was coming on and off. If you have skin eczema you will probably know that this is not something which can be treated overnight. It was difficult for Dr Tan to prescribe the products as the symptoms just didn't show.

However, there is something worth rejoicing about. Look at the my pigmentation mark, clearness of the skin and brightness. My skin seems to get better.
That's not the end... I am going to follow up with the next consultation and Dr Tan will be fine tuning the "misses" in the products prescribed for me.

Till then... keep reading!
