Pearlywerkz - Singapore Beauty and Lifestyle Blog

Before you enter a home, you can already smell and imagine what the home feels like. Have you heard of the saying "This smells like home?" or... "This feels like home?". Just like how a familiar yet innocent scent from a perfume of a passing stranger, which can lead you back to memories of  your loved ones or associate you with another person, usually an intimate one, so is the scent of a home.

I loved to explore new ways to beautify my home with different furniture settings and floral arrangements, but the easiest way to change the mood of my home is through it's scent. Before my guest or my family members come in (actually at all times), I try my best to make sure my home is kept in the best condition. I'll never want them to feel like they've step foot into a pigsty as this will be the impression embed in their minds when they leave.

I am happy to be introduced to a newly launched range of freshener, the Les Parfums de Farcent (LPF). Knowing that the market have very limited scents, they have came up with the first perfume type of freshener. They come in both the perfumed diffuser bottle and sachet form.

There are 3 main scent types:
➼ Star Magnolia (Refreshing, powdery, floral and woody scent)
➼ Freesia & English Pear (Woody, jasmine scent)
➼ Sea Salt & Wood Sage (coconut and powdery scent)

The Perfumed Diffuser:
➼ Made from Japanese plant deodorizer
➼ Made use of innovative odor elimination to bring fresh air
➼ Is packaged as a fashionable, modern perfume bottle which can double up as a display and create a nice touch to your home or office
➼ When used properly, can last 4-8 weeks

Usage Directions:
➼ Unscrew gold cap and remove plastic plug
➼ Screw the gold cap back on bottle
➼ Insert PET reed sticks

Tip:
➼ You can adjust the number of reed sticks to control the aroma concentration
➼ Start with one and increase the number of reed sticks for a stronger concentration (I only placed one stick and so far it is working fine)
➼ Place at high areas and away from children for safety reasons

The Perfumed Sachets:
➼ Comes in 3 pieces per packet
➼ Fashionable yet modern packaging
➼ Placed in enclosed areas to freshen your wardrobe, car, cabinet, handbags and even in the toilet (but keep dry)

For these I loved to hang them on my room door handles, slip them into the clothes cabinet or simply hang them on the toilet doors.

Usage Directions:
➼ Remove perfumed sachet from pouch
➼ Insert ribbon through hole on top of sachet

I think they also make a great house-warming gift or gift for a special occasion to you friends and loved ones. You can purchase them from Samplestore at $9.90/ UP. $12.90 (Perfumed Diffuser) or $4.90/ U.P. $5.90 (Perfumed sachet).

Astalift recently held a workshop at Wisma Atrium where Samplestore Influencers and members got an opportunity to experience their premium products and learn more about the product benefits from their beauty trainer Jason.

I was very honored to be the selected few Samplestore Influencers to be invited for this event. Wearing red as it is near the Lunar New Year and because Astalift premium range of products are their "red range" too.

Other than food and refreshments catered, there were also the Grab and Win station where you can grab 3 ribbons of the same colour and win yourself some product samples.

In anticipation of the upcoming Lunar New Year, We were treated to an insightful evening learning about their key products in Astalift's premium range and how they allow us to prep ourselves for the festive season. These products includes the Jelly Aquarysta, In-Focus Cellactive Serum (Star product), Renewal Eye Cream, Renewal Night Charge Cream as well as Astalift supplements.  Let me share with you more about them as we go along!

#1 Astalift Jelly Aquarysta: $148/40g

The Astalift Jelly Aquarysta is one of the products that forms the range of aging care skincare series.

It is a unique anti-ageing skincare product composed of an effective mix of collagen and moisturizer delivering a light textured facial treatment that ensures fast absorption for glowing skin.

♡ The jelly is a “human-type nano acyl ceramide”, moisturizing ingredient stably dispersed at the world’s smallest 20nm-level.  - Even when Jason did a live demo you can see the crystal floating in the water clearly, even when it is shaked and the jelly is left to disperse in the water, we can still clearly see the shiny crystals in the water.

♡ The product works by moisturizing every corner of your skin.

♡Applying the jelly on your face immediately after cleansing will enhance absorption of other products.

♡ Although the product is in jelly form, after it is put on your hands, it spreads out smoothly on the skin in a light watery texture and penetrates into the skin.

♡ The Jelly surface inside the container will repair itself in 1-2 minutes after use and returns to its flat and smooth form.

♡It is lightly scented with the sweet and noble damask rose

We had the opportunity to see how the jelly works and tried it by applying on our skin. Love its texture, moisturizing factor and the light rose scent.

#5 Astalift White Perfect UV Clear Solution SPF50+ PA++++ $72/30g

Formulated with D-UV Guard to provide unprecedented high level of UV skin damaging UVA rays, thereby preventing age spots and freckles.

Doubles as beauty essence and makeup base to enhance radiance and help makeup look great all day long.Inlcude a “UV Sensor Cap”, which changes its color when exposed to UV rays containing the “Deep UVA”, so that users can visibly check the presence of invisible UV rays.

This product is actually one of my favorite despite the many products shared as I am a very firm believer of investing in a good sunscreen. This could be because I have very fair skin and I tend to get pigmentation easily. You can even apply the product over your eyes, over your make-up and there is no need to touch up the product at all even if you are outside.

A volunteer had Astalift White Perfect UV Clear Solution applied to one side of  her face and the other side was left uncovered. She mentioned that she used a sunblock on her skin. Under the UV light, we can witness so clearly that the Astalift White Perfect UV Clear Solution is still visible on her while her own sunscreen is "gone" by the time the scan was done.

I later went on to had a chat with Jason and he shared about one workshop participant who challenged him to the UV scan, only to realised that the only reason why his UV sunscreen was so lasting was because she was using the Astalift White Perfect UV Clear Solution and was making fun of him.

I also took the opportunity to learn more about Astalift from him. If you had noticed, the products in the premium range had a nice rosy red colour to it, this comes from Asataxanthin which is a key ingredient in their products.

Astalift Collagen 10,000mg and Astalift White Shield Drink $60 (50ml X 10 bottles)

We also got to try Astalift's pure collagen 10,000mg drink which is so palatable without any tinge of fishy taste. Many samplestore members were spotted going for more servings after the sharing ended, this proves how yummy it is.

Thank you Astalift and Samplestore for the workshop invitation. I had a lovely evening learning all about Astalift's products. The workshop was really insightful.

Some of my favourite things to do after a hard day of work is to enjoy  me time doing beauty treatments, such as spa, massage, facial, a good hair treatment, or a simple beauty treatment like manicure and pedicure. These things may not be a great deal to you, but for me these are necessary intrinsic rewards for me to keep my journey ahead going strong.
This year, I promise myself a monthly facial or pamper me treatment, so just in time for the Chinese New Year season, I was offered such an opportunity. I was invited to try out the Facial at Lynn Aesthetic.

Lynn Aesthetic is located in the heartlands of Kovan. A place where I always frequent to have my hawker fares. It is about 5 minutes walk from the Kovan MRT Station.

About Lynn Aesthetics:
Lynn Aesthetics provides beauty aesthetic services such as facials, body massages, slimming procedures, IPLs and Waxing services. They have been in the business for about 31 years and have a total of 9 "themed" rooms within the Aesthetic salon. 4 downstairs, 5 upstairs.
Read on to find out my 3 wow reasons why I think you too, should visit Lynn Aesthetic for your monthly pamper me time.

(1) Lynn Aesthetics gives you heart-warming touches, down to every small detail.
I was offered a cup of ginger tea while waiting for my beauty therapist, Kate to attend to me. Look at the frangipani flower which they placed beside the tea along with some sweets. I thought it was normal to serve tea, but to have a frangipani as a decoration beside it, this wowed me.  It may be a very small thing, but for someone to add the additional touches, it makes me feel welcomed.

As it is the Chinese New Year period, you can see the salon being decorated beautifully, ready to welcome their guest.

I was asked to fill up a facial consultation card so that they can keep my records and at the same time, take note of my facial concerns.

VIP - Butterfly Room

I love how they decorated little hidden areas to make the whole place look so homely and cozy.

(2) Facial rooms are proper rooms and beautifully decorated in different themes.
I was then ushered upstairs to their room to have my facial done. According to Kate, every room is decorated differently based on their "theme" and each therapist takes care of their own room. I was however, offered the VIP (Butterfly room) which was used by their boss. I feel so honored to be using her beautiful room.

This is Kate's room. The set up is for a customer who will be doing a slimming treatment.

Seaside themed room

(3) Attentive and professional therapist serves you.
Even though Kate was very chatty with me and I was distracting her most of the time with my conversation, she was very professional and did not forget to explain to me each of the steps that was being done on my face. I do not get sudden surprises from her.

Next, let us move on to the treatment that she had done for me. Kate had planned for a Detox Facial for the Young and Trendy Facial ($180), customized for me and taking note of my sensitive areas.

These are the steps of the facial in summary:

1) Cleanse - For removal of make-up on me and cleaning off the dirt on my face.
2) Tone - To prepare my skin for the next stops and acting as a double cleanse.
3) Gommage peel - To remove dead skin and bring back the skin to a clean slate.
4) Skin Scrubbing (machine) -  suction - To suck out the dirt that were underneath my pores, pimple extraction was also done before the skin scrubbing machine. The pimple extraction was more painful at the nose areas for me as they were quite dry. I have this same problem every time.
5) Eyebrow Trimming - Kate trimmed my eyebrows and tidied the loose hairs around it.
6) Oxygenating Serum/ Detox Gel/ Collagen Whitening Serum/ Hydrating Gel/ Slimlook Gel (customize by skin) - For this, I was given the whitening serum for my pigmentation.
7) Lip, Eye care - Products for the lip and eyes were applied on my face during my facial massage.
8) Oxygenating Night Cream, face, shoulder head massage - I did my facial during the day, so there were no night cream being applied. Essential oil was used instead. I was given a very relaxing face and shoulder massage.
9) Co2 Cream Mask - I was given a mask that was suitable for my sensitive skin.
10) Hand Massage - Kate massaged my hands and loosen my tight muscles. It felt good although i wish she could exert slightly more force.
11) Foot Massage - I was quite surprised that the facial here consist of a foot massage as well. The bed also had gentle vibrations during my masking time so it felt a little more relaxing than the normal beds.
12) Toning – cream – sunblock - Lastly, sunblock was applied on my skin so that I can proceed to my next destination.
Kate was quite worried for me after my facial as I told her I had to attend another event that night. There was redness after the facial, so I had to rely on concealers to cover them up and I was a little uncomfortable.

After my facial, I was offered some grapes along with a cup of fruit tea.

Overall, I would recommend this place for anyone who would like to experience a facial in the Kovan neighborhood area. There are on-going promotions, so do check with them before you head down.

Wonder how is my face doing now? Take a look at the photo comparison and you will see my face glowing! Most of the redness had gone by now. 2 days after the facial, my face was healing very well and I did not need to do much concealing by then.

Ambience Rating: ★★★★☆ Cozy and well decorated, room was very cozy, spacious and huge with cozy lighting.
Service: ★★★★☆ Very cozy, homely , professional therapist
Facial Effectiveness: ★★★☆☆ Pimple extraction was a little painful, massage can exert more strength and bed vibration a little redundant as not much strength.
Price: ★★★★☆ Average for similar type of facials
Location: ★★★★☆ Very near to MRT station

What's happening this month? It seems like time flew past like nobody's business eh? I remember just busily preparing for the 3rd Elite Pet Grooming Competition in early May and before I knew it, the competition is over. Now I am back to preparation for my SKC Grooming "A" License, probably the last that I am going to take until I need to take the Master's level for whichever reason, I will have to do a change of breed.
