Jump in for a joyride back in time with Garden By The Bay first-ever retro-styled floral display - Lilytopia, which is the fourth in a series of music-themed floral displays at Gardens by the Bay in 2016.

Lilytopia is happening from 3 June 2016 ~ 10 Jul 2016 from 9am to 9pm daily @ the Flower Dome!

Get ready to rock and roll as we hit the rewind button and journey back to an era of psychedelic music and Flower Power.

Groove to old school favourites in this retro revival featuring a stunning display of lilies alongside pop icons like the hippie van and guitar. Let the good times roll!

Embark on a musical odyssey around the world and celebrate the harmony of nature this year as the Gardens' floral displays come to life with the energetic beats of Taiko drums, the retro tunes of the jukebox, or the pulsating rhythm of tribal dance.



You are encouraged to take beautiful pictures of yourself with the retro Vespa Scooter! Hey we are coincidentally dressed in the same colour! :)



Check out these informative vinyl records among the floral display, as you feast your eyes on these beautiful Lily and groove along to the soothing retro songs like "I wanna hold your hand" by the Beatles.

Do you know the word "Retro" means backwards or in past times? It is used to describe something contemporary with stylistic elements from the recent past. Fashion, art, music, television, video games and architecture are just some areas where retro style is exhibited.

In this case, there is a retro bicycle at the back, can you spot it?



Lily in Pink! They are my favourite colour. I used to think that Lily only comes in white until this!


These clusters of Lily looks interesting too. They have such interesting combination of colour and looks like fabric material from a distance.



That's an interesting way to camouflage a vehicle! But I found you anyways!





 
Water Lily, Calla Lily and Lily of the Valley are not true lilies. They belong to other group of flowering plants.


Look! We found the Siberia! These are Oriental hybrids! They are not easy to grow. They have medium to large-sized, scented flowers that bloom in late summer. Their petals are usually white but may also be pink, purplish-red or yellow. They could have a central ray and spots.



Lovely Lilies! Can I just bring all of you home with me?

 
Some Species of lilies are poisonous to cats! Pollen which gets on their fur may also cause harm when they accidentally consume them while licking themselves clean.





Some other interesting flowers and cactus around the Flower Dom! You can see them other than the Lilies. Don't miss out on them.

When it comes to red and white, what are you reminded of? Sk-II Stempower? Just joking! But really its a popular product and its red and white too. So why not? Maybe you should just go to the page and grab one bottle to pamper yourself for partying so hard, in celebration of the nation's post birthday!

Its the nation's birthday. Singapore is 50 years old this year. Its our Jubilee and we are having a long weekend. Its great to check out some of  places which you have not been to, and is now FREE! That's what myself and hubby did. Cheapo? No... we're just typical Singaporeans. 

So he dig me out of bed on day 1 of the long weekend, and told me that he wanted to watch the Singapore Aerial display as they are having their rehearsal. So there we are...

 
Look at the gloomy skies thou, we didn't catch much of the action in the skies. Soon there was a downpour and we decided that we should just go find some food nearby. We headed for the Marina Square food court where we had our favorite Indonesian food.


We took wefies, and revisited some of our favorite places along Marina Bay.

Spot the Fullerton Hotel, The bridge before the Fullerton, views of the Art Science Museum, Marina Bay Sands and other buildings along the busy Singapore districts. These places brings back happy and sweet memories where we took our pre-wedding photo-shoot back in 2009.




We took the opportunity to visit the Asian Civilization Museum where they showcased a time capsule uncovered. Its called, Unearthed, Singapore at 25. Wonder what's Singapore like a mere 25 years ago? Look at some photographs which we took of the items. Are any of them they familiar to you? Maybe you can keep one time capsule at home and pass it down to your children when they grow up too. It will be fun to put together items.
 


This exhibition displays the contents of a time capsule buried in front of the Empress Place building on 29 December 1990. Objects include first National Service mobilisation, development plans from the 1970s, military medals, stamps, public phone cards, a very young SINGA, the courtesy mascot, and even a poster of Ah Meng, ambassador for the Singapore Zoo. Come experience the sights, sounds, and thoughts of Singaporeans of 25 years ago. ~ Credits: Asian Civilisation Museum 




There are some other exhibitions happening at the same time as well, we managed to take a quick look and snap some photographs along the way as we've seen some of them on our previous visit. We left soon after and proceed on with our exploration.



We walked around Uncle Ringo and looked at some of the activities that the children were busy with and was rather fascinated by the Journey of Thrills. It cost $7 for 2 rounds which took around 10 minutes or lesser. Would you pay for such rides for the sake of the experience for your child?




 
The all time favorite bumper car, where we spotted a long queue behind the ticket booth.

We walked around for a little and explored Marina Bay Sands but...  we didn't manage to hang around long enough to wait till the fireworks, as the rain was coming on and off, we got our shoes all wet and clothes partially wet. Even though we had our umbrella with us, it didn't help much. We decided to head home after that.

It was a day of fun exploring the Marina Bay area and we hope that we'll be able to find time to do more of these exploration trips soon!

In view of the upcoming Mother's and Father's Day, Paradise Dynasty has lovingly crafted, with daddy and mummies in mind, an interesting combination of 2 new flavored Xiao Long Bao. These 2 nourishing flavours are Dang Gui (Pink) and Shi Quan Xiao Long Bao. They have named this dish, the Tribute Basket of Love.



Benefits of Dang Gui:
Known as the women's herb, commonly used as a tonic for the bloof and for treating female gynecological disorders.

Benefits of Shi Quan:
A traditional formula consisting of 10 herbs known to improve health conditions and alleviate symptoms of fatigue, anemia etc.

Shi Quan (green) is more flavorful than Dang Gui but both have great health benefits. You wouldn't want to miss ordering this dish because these are their latest flavor. Enjoy the oozing soup coming from your Xiao Long Bao and be sure to eat them piping hot. The skin is of the right texture so it doesn't tear easily when lifted from their trays.

Next up, I decided to try the Braised Pork Belly. This is also a must try dish. If you are a fan of fatty meats or 三辰肉 (San Cheng Rou) this will not disappoint you. The gravy is rich and not oily, though this has fatty meats you can still taste the tenderness of the meat, minus the sinful feeling of the fats. My only regret was that I didn't have a bowl of rice to go with it.

I don't think that by looking at this dish you'll be able to guess what it is. Shredded Potatoes with Capsicum. They have mixed the crunchy potato in vinegar and this is supposed to be a cold appetizer dish. Refreshing and crunchy, not your regular mushy type of potato. This makes a perfect appetizer to complement your upcoming dishes.

For main course, I ordered the Beef noodles for my husband. This dish is mildly spicy and the serving was very generous. Even for a big eater like him, he couldn't finish it. We think that it would be better if they go easy with the chilly oil. You may opt for the non spicy version if you wish.

Although I am not a fan of beef, I find that the beef is tender and not overly cooked. A recommendation will be to have the beef slices cut smaller.



Last but not least, I tried the La Mian in Signature Pork Bone Soup served with Deep-fried Pork Ribs. I did not manage to finish this bowl of La Mian as well. The soup was light and the boiled egg was decent. Nothing very surprising about this dish, but I do appreciate them separating my pork ribs from my noodles.

Eat the pork ribs with your noodles as the ribs are a little too salty to be eaten on its own.

We had a very filling lunch and overall the dishes ordered were great and good for a table of 4 small eaters.

In this modern society, we often get so busy that we neglect our health. Do you often feel ache and pains on your body? What you need most is a body massage like me! When Street Directory offered me a chance to take on either a body massage or foot massage, I knew immediately I needed a body massage. With all those sitting in the office, bending my body and stress level building up, this was exactly what I needed the most.

They are opened 24-hours, so fear not if you decide to patronize them in the middle of the night, while you are shopping around the area.



So I was invited to Tang Dynasty. Part of me was wondering, isn't this place a tourist attraction? I thought they had closed down for quite sometime back? Well, I was in fact half correct thou I mistaken this for the one near Chinese Garden. This massage place is frequent by many tourist.



This is the place I was referring to. I was kind of unhappy with them telling me that there was no reservation made for me initially as I had rushed down after a last-minute farewell for my boss. Luckily they managed to resolve it after me making some calls to check.



The oriental steps that lead me up to Tang Dynasty Wellness Spa.



The front desk, counter area where their staff greeted me. They had very relaxing lightnings which put my mind to ease the moment I stepped in. I thought it was also very clever to use dividers to separate different areas and the whole place looks like a mini palace in the olden days.



I was ushered to this area and given a cup of hot tea while I wait for my masseur to get ready a room to begin my massage. This area was also where they will be doing your foot massage. Your partner can also wait here while you get your massage done. They have some programs on the television, so it wouldn't be too boring waiting for you. My husband commented that the staff even asked if he needed a blanket. Now I think they deserve some credit for asking.



This is where I laid on to have my massage done. Only towels and disposable panty is provided. So you can change into them and get ready for your masseur.

I have chosen an oriental massage which is suppose to cost me $60 for 60 minutes. There are also other services, like foot reflexology, Ba Guan, Gua Sha, Ear Candling and Ear Cleaning services, which you can check out their services and pricing here.

No, you are not getting photographs of me laying naked on this bed for the massage. But do read on to find out more about this royal treatment place.



In case you are wondering, yes they do have shower facilities in the room but the advise of the masseur is that you should not shower within 2 hours after your massage is done. This is because the blood circulation is still taking place and there's massage oil on your skin that you want your skin to absorb. The Chinese also believe that this will lead to rheumatism "Feng Shi".

The skill of the masseur was relatively good, she was experienced and she did not cause any "blue black" or inflict any wounds on me like how some inexperienced masseur would. She would check with me if it was too painful for me to take it and she knew where all my "knots" were. She would then try to relief the tensions there, warning me that it will be painful so I must bear with it.



Overall I am delighted with both the service by the masseur and the environment. It is no wonder they were awarded with the 2013 Singapore Excellence Award. Do give them a try if you are looking for massage services!
