Product Review: Althea Pore Purifying Serum Cleanser

Althea 1/07/2019

Have you already heard about Althea's brand new Pore Purifying Serum Cleanser? My house is stashed with Althea house brand products and so far every single one of them works quite well, especially the skincare products. I am so excited and I can't wait to try out their new release which is their make-up range!!!

I don't have a single complain at all when it comes to Althea's house brand because I believe the research team had gone into great lengths, trial and test to bring out the best in all the items before they labelled it their own. But maybe this one is just... different?

What is the Althea Pore Purifying Serum Cleanser:

Althea Pore Purifying Serum Cleanser is a cleanser and serum fused together. As it's name suggest, it not only helps to remove your make-up, dirt and oil. It is enhanced with mint extracts so that your skin stays cool and hydrated without drying out. It also helps to minimize enlarged pores and keep your skin's PH levels balanced.

This product looks more like a facial toner than a cleanser based on first impression and texture.

Key Ingredients:

♡ Mint leaf extract - Cools down the skin and soothes irritations
♡ Jojoba seed oil - Deeply moisturizes any dryness without feeling heavy
♡ Tea tree leaf extract - Has antibacterial properties that purify the skin

* Do remember to remove the internal protective foil before your first use.

Usage Direction of Pore Purifying Serum Cleanser:

There are 2 ways which you can make use of the Pore Purifying Serum Cleanser,

If you are using it to remove your make up:

♡ Pour an adequate amount of the product onto your palm.

♡ Massage the product all over your skin in circular motions to remove dirt and makeup.
♡ Rinse off the residue with water. You may also use a second cleanser to completely remove any residue.

Tip: You can also apply the cleanser to a cotton wool, wipe off your make-up and wash off the residue with water.

If you are using it to cleanse your skin:
♡ Dampen the skin and apply an adequate amount of the product onto your palm.
♡ Gently massage the product all over your skin in circular motions for 5-10 seconds before rinsing it off with water.

This is a gentle cleanser that is good for days when you have good skin as it feels very light on the skin. I have use it to remove my make-up products and they worked to remove them pretty well, even for my lipstick and eye make-up.

I do however, find it weird when I have to wash my face after applying this product as it does not suds well, hence giving me the "unclean" feeling after wash. I would still recommend to use the Althea Contour Cleanser instead.

I have since tested the pore purifying serum cleanser for a few times now, sometimes it seems to work ok, but there were also recent times where my face would flare up, turning red and itch badly after using them directly on my skin to remove my make up and rinsing off with water only. I would recommend a double cleanse with a normal face cleanser after using this product and not washing with water only.

**Those with sensitive skin should use this product with caution and do patch test before using on your whole face.**

Overall, I am having mixed feelings with this product. Maybe I should stop using the product until my face feels better.

Product Review: Althea Stay Fresh Body Sparkling Mist Review

Althea 12/27/2018

Althea did many first this year including their very first celebrity collaboration with Titi Kamal, who is both a movie star and singer from Jakarta, Indonesia. With this collaboration, they launched their very own Althea Stay Fresh Body Sparkling Mist on top of many other products.

How I wish I can one day collaborate with a scent company and launch my own unique blend of body mist too! Well... maybe one day! Who knows? I love body sprays as they are not overpowering but at the same time keeps me feeling feminine.

Filled in this pink floral bottle is a light-weighted mix of fruity and floral scents of orange, peach and rose. These are Titi Kamal's favourite scents. Small enough to fit into your handbag, bring it along with you and keep yourself smelling fresh all day long.

Key ingredients in this product includes:

♡ Damask Rose Water

♡ Sweet Orange Oil
♡ Elder Flower Extract

Just like any other body mist, spritz it on your wrist and all over your body anytime you want, this product is suitable for daily use. As it is so light, you can even spray it around you as an air freshener if you feel extravagant enough. Or perhaps, use it as a room spray just before you romance your partner.

I personally love the light and long lasting fragrance as it suits any occasion and is not too sweet which makes me want to avoid it.

If you would love to get one for yourself, its retailing at $11.60 SGD (100ml). You are also encourage to visit https://sg.althea.kr/stay-fresh-body-sparkling-mist for more information as well as to purchase. For a limited time only, grab your Althea exclusives with a check out code of "PBSHIP".

Product Review: Althea X Klairs Product Kit Review

Althea 10/24/2018

Are you a Korean beauty junkie? Ever since being an Althea Angel, I've been blessed with many Korean beauty goodies. I'm loving them, so keep them coming! Recently, I received the Klairs product kit under the Freshly Juiced Line (For skin brightening) and Supple Preparation facial toner and cotton pads (To cleanse and hydrate the skin) for my review.

As I am also a wishtrend affiliate, I am no stranger to the brand Klairs. So far, I'm loving the blue line (which I used to sooth my eczema outbreaks as well as the Freshly Juiced line which I used for sun protection.

I am happy to be adding these 3 new products into my skincare regime and be providing you with my honest views on them.

1) Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop (Freshly Juiced Line) 35ml - $31

Have you heard of the importance of having vitamin C in your diet? How about the idea of applying them on your skin? The Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop contains concentrated pure Vitamin C (5%) together with non irritating formula to revitalize, maintain and transform your skin. Together, these skin loving ingredients brightens your dull skin and helps minimizing of pores. This product is suitable for even those with a sensitive and great for those with pigmentation.

*When using vitamin serums, use anything from 1% to 20% for maximum effectiveness. Also note that its not always the higher the concentration, the better it gets.*

This product is suitable for all skin types.

Ingredients:

Water, Propylen Glycol, Ascorbic Acid(5%), Hydroxyethylcellulose, Centella Asiatica Extract, Citrus Junos Fruit Extract, Illicium Verum(Anise) Fruit Extract, Citrus Paradisi(Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, Nelumbium Speciosum Flower Extract, Paeonia Suffruticosa Root Extract, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Polysorbate 60, Brassica Oleracea Italica (Broccoli) Extract, Chaenomeles Sinensis Fruit Extract, Orange Oil Brazil, Sodium Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Disodium EDTA, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Camellia Sinensis Callus Culture Extract, Larix Europaea Wood Extract, Chrysanthellum Indicum Extract, Rheum Palmatum Root Extract, Asarum Sieboldi Root Extract, Quercus Mongolia Leaf Extract, Persicaria Hydropiper Extract, Corydalis Turtschaninovii Root Extract, Coptis Chinensis Root Extract, Magnolia Obovata Bark Extract, Lysine HCL, Proline, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Acetyl Methionine, Theanine, Lecithin, Acetyl Glutamine,SH-Olgopeptide-1, SH-Olgopeptide-2, SH-Polypeptide-1, SH-Polypeptide-9, SH-Polypeptide-11, Bacillus/Soybean/Folic Acid Ferment Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Caprylyl Glycol, Butylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol

Usage Directions:

After cleansing your face, apply half drop to your entire face and massage into your skin.
For those with sensitive skin, apply the vitamin drop after using your toner and apply 3-4 drops.

For those with hyper sensitive skin, mix a few drops into your daily serum or lotion before applying it on your face.

Caring Tips:

After using in the day, follow up with a sunscreen.

Avoid using exfoliators with (AJA, BHA etc) when using this product.

Store product away from direct sunlight or store it in the fridge.

Review:

The product comes in the same type of holographic box as the rest of the products belong to the freshly juiced line. What puzzled me is that they packaged the product in a plastic bottle with a dropper, instead of a glass bottle. I would prefer it to be packaged in a glass bottle.

When dispensed with the dropper, the product flows out easily. For those using the product for the first time, it is recommended that you patch test the product with a small drop on your hand before applying it fully on to your face.

I do like the feel of the vitamin drop when I applied it on my skin as my thirsty skin absorbs it very quickly. I mixed the vitamin drop into my regular moisturizer and applied them together. The duration of test is however, too short to determine any changes to my skin yet. However, I will continue to use it and add it to my skincare regime as I do favor the idea of having Vitamin C for my thirsty skin.

2) Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner in travel size (Supple Preparation Line) (30ml) $29/180ml

The Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner helps to balance your skin's pH level and improves the effectiveness of your skincare products by enhancing the absorption of your serums and creams. It acts as a clean canvas for your skincare.

The Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner contains key ingredients such as the Phyto-Oligo, to help thoroughly moisturize your skin and resolve skin dryness. It also has wheat amino acids to help reduce inflammation in the skin. The blend of various plant based extracts gives you a calming, non-irritating and hydrating toner suitable for even the most sensitive skin.

This toner enables you to have full moisture retention and gives you a brightened and glowing skin while retaining your skin's hydration level by more than 20% compared to conventional toners with hyaluronic acid and beta-glucan.

The full size bottle of this product is 180ml and the product is suitable for all skin types.

Ingredients:

Water, Butylene Glycol, Dimethyl Sulfone, Betaine, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Natto Gum, Sodium Hyaluronate, Disodium EDTA, Centella Asiatica Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Polyquaternium-51, Chlorphenesin, Tocopheryl Acetate, Carbomer, Panthenol, Arginine, Luffa Cylindrica Fruit/Leaf/Stem Extract, Beta-Glucan, Althaea Rosea Flower Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Lysine HCL, Proline, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Acetyl Methionine, Theanine, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Cananga Odorata Flower Oil, Copper Tripeptide-1

Usage Directions:

After cleansing your face, apply the toner to clean skin. Pat with palms for complete absorption.

Tips/Suggestion:

Multiple application is recommended for dry areas. Try this toner with Klairs Toner Mate 2-in-1 Cotton Pads. It is specifically created to maximize the toner’s effect by providing you with two types of surface - compressed and sponge.

Review:

While the bottle says apply and pat this toner into your skin directly they came out with a dual use cotton pad to use this product. I find this a little conflicting. The texture of the toner is also thicker than normal toners (more like a serum to me, than a toner).

Sad to say, this product does not really work for me. I would prefer other toners with a lighter texture given a choice. It feels too much like a serum and too heavy for my skin. Perhaps I'll use it on days when my skin gets really dry.

3) Toner Mate 2-in-1 Cotton Pad 120pcs/box - $16

The Toner Mate 2-in-1 Cotton pad is designed specifically to help maximize the effects of the Klairs toner within one conveniently packaged box which also acts as a cotton pad dispenser. It contains

60 compressed and 60 sponge pads. Two types of facial cotton pads to maximize the effects of the Klairs toner, in one box.

The Compressed cotton pad : 100% cotton for soft, smooth skin. A certified 100% pure cotton pad designed for the Klairs toner, compressed 5 times with the waterjet process. Wipe away irritants and gently exfoliate for soft, smooth skin. Use before other skin care products to help aid absorption. Increase hydration, decrease product waste.

The Sponge pad : Increase hydration, decrease the amount of product used. Air laid pulp fabric designed to act like a sponge. Doesn’t absorb the product fully, but soaks up the toner to effectively deliver the full hydration to the skin. Rather than wiping, use a patting motion to calm and cool irritated skin.

Ingredients:

Compressed Cotton Pad: 100% cotton
Sponge Cotton Pad: Pulp/Rayon Blend

Usage Directions:

1) After cleansing, soak the Compressed cotton pad thoroughly with the Klairs toner and gently wipe the face, removing any irritants.

2)Soak the sponge pad with an adequate amount of the toner and gently pat the skin, allowing absorption.

Review:

I love the idea for the box dispenser with the 2 types of cotton pads and do feel cleaner when using the dual step application method. However, on lazy nights I will stick to my 1 step cleansing with my regular cotton wool. Nevertheless, I love the texture of the cotton wools and will use them for their different purpose.
