Product Review: Curél Sebum Care Set keeps your skin in matt condition for 8 hours

Talking about excess Sebum production and a sensitive skin, no one knows it better than me. I used to have very serious issues on my skin and frequent breakouts due to excess sebum production, this is very common among teenage girls, especially so if you reside in Singapore.
So what is this Sebum that I am talking about?
It is a layer of oil or fat on our skin necessary to protect the skin and moisturize it. However, too much of it on our skin will cause clogged pores. Excess Sebum will cause skin sensitivity and aggravate skin conditions causing more skin flare ups.
You need to make wise choices to choose the right products for your sensitive and oily skin. You should choose products that can effectively control your skin sensitivity and reduce sebum secretion so as to keep your skin in control.
Curél - Japan No 1 brand for sensitive Asian Skin, has understand this and newly launched the Sebum Care Series. This new skincare range is specially formulated for the sensitive and oily or combination skin types.
The Curel Sebum Care Range comprises of the Foaming Wash, Lotion and Moisture Gel to properly manage both skin sensitivity and sebum secretion. Your skin will be kept in Matt condition for 8 hours after usage. In 4 weeks, skin sensitivity and excess sebum will be kept in control.
The 3 products introduced in this range are made from Hypoallergenic Formula for Sensitive skin. They are Ethyl alcohol free, fragrance free, colorant free and Hypoallergenic keeping pH closest to skin.
After removing your daily make up, start off with the Curel Sebum Care Foaming Wash.
$19.80/150ml. The Curel Sebum Care Foaming Wash produces ultra fine foam with sebum solvent to thoroughly cleanse dirt and excess sebum while it protects the Ceremide in your skin. This dual function product makes your skin feel refreshingly comfortable and not tight after wash.
Ceramide is the essential ingredient in skin as it replenishes and helps retain moisture, strengthening the skin's skin’s resilience as a natural barrier against external irritants. The lack of ceramide weakens this natural barrier, causing skin to be more susceptible to irritants.
Usage Instructions:
1. Apply 2 full pumps directly onto wet skin. (Do not lather)
2. Massage and rinse off thoroughly.
Thoughts:
The foam makes application on the skin very easy and the texture feels velvety soft. 2 pumps is more than sufficient and it does helps lifting all the dirt from my face. There is no soapy and oily feeling. This cleanser feels very light and oxidizes away quickly when applied to the face. My face felt cleaner and brighter after just one wash.
Next, Apply the Curél Sebum Care Lotion (150ml), $24.90. This lotion has a non sticky formula which prepares your skin for better absorption of the moisturizer/essence which is used after the lotion. (It acts like a toner). It is used to protect the ceramide from being washed off during cleansing.
Usage Instructions:
1. After cleansing, pat in lotion gently over the whole face several times with clean hands. (Apply in the morning and at night)
Thoughts:
The lotion feels watery, light, smooth and non sticky. It is easy to pat into the skin. You do not need any cotton wool unlike normal toners. This is one great toner that I would recommend if you are looking for an alcohol free and fragrance free toner. It makes my skin feel so moisturized and smooth without the tightening effect.
Lastly, Apply the Curél Sebum Care Moisture Gel (120ml), $34.90. This Liquid based gel spreads easily for speedy absorption into deeper layers of skin without leaving your skin sticky, helping to replenish and retain the ceremide for a more resilient skin barrier function.
Usage Instructions:
1. Apply three to four pumps gently over the entire face (Apply in the morning and at night.)
Thoughts:
The texture of the lotion is much thicker than the toner but very smooth and moisturizing. Not the typical kind of cream based moisturizer but a gel version that gets absorbed into the skin quickly.
Overall I like the Curél Sebum Care Set very much in terms of its texture, being alcohol and fragrance free and I would recommend acne prone, skin sensitive suffers to try out this range. My only regret is that my face is under-going some treatment now, although I have tested this product once on my face and hands. It would be unfair for me to judge the full potential of this product until I have used it long enough.
