Scarlett Supermarket 思家客 had been in Singapore since 2020. They started out with their first flagship store in Chinatown, Trengganu Street. Today, you can find an outlet in most of the neighborhood mall. The ones located in popular regions are usually bigger with household items, daily essentials, food, snacks and drinks and carries most of the items. While the ones within the neighborhood are small shops usually only carrying the more common food items. They have a total of 14 stores island-wide now. 

While they are famous for their China snacks, they do carry a variety of other food items as well. Let's continue from where we left off! I am going to share with you some other food items, the non-snacks which we have tried! As before, the list of food items and condiments that me/my family have tried are randomly listed in no particular order of our preference.  If you are lost and the first time in Scarlett Supermarket, I certainly hope that this list will come in useful for you, so here we go!

Most of the items found in this list can be found in our local supermarkets now and they are not unique to only Scarlett Supermarket. I am surprised to discover even new flavors as I was doing my research for this article.

This used to be my husband's favourite midnight snack! Whenever we binge watch a movie or watch Formula One on late nights, my husband would ask me to share this with him. The Vermicelli is easy to prepare, as you only need to add water and eat it like an instant noodle. Its condiments are salty, and very oily! It does taste sour from the vinegar packet and its flavour packs a punch! You should give it a try if you haven't, but I would advise not to pour in all the chili oil and not to finish everything by yourself as it feels really unhealthy. You can take it as a meal by itself, but Vermicelli is very light and may not be filling. We first came across this on EZ-Buy where you can also find these China food and snacks. You should try it at least once if you love 酸辣! 

If you are a chili fan, you should really try this! This is my family's favourite and we like to eat them with almost anything! They are great to go with your dishes and you don't have to cook it. There are several versions and can be very oily as the chili flakes are soaked in oil, but they are really good! What we would usually do is to skim away the oil on top when we eat. The chili oil can be used to fry beehoon or for other purpose so you will not waste them. My personal favourite is the one with peanut and the plain ones that are soaked in chili oil. They go really well with your noodles too! These can be purchase from Singapore's local supermarket and can be widely found now. 

Hot pot lovers, I don't think anyone would be strangers to these Hai Di Lao Hot pot seasonings. We have only tried 2 flavors which seemed more appealing, and our favourite is the tomato base. The tomato flavouring is really strong and tangy! It keeps you wanting to eat more. The clear broth version is somewhat oily, so we didn't really enjoy it as much. It has a preserved vegetable (酸菜汤）flavor. These soup seasonings are also widely available in Singapore's supermarket now. They usually have bundle deals so keep an eye on them if you plan to try, and stock up for your next hot pot session!

#4 Chao Ba Ye Dried Noodles (Available in 2 flavours)


We tried the salted egg yolk flavor for this instant noodle cup. Please note that this is a dry noodle (干捞面）, so you should drain off your boiling water and strain the noodles before mixing in the condiments. I think they tasted quite good, but they feel a tad costly so I would only buy if they were on promotion. This is worth trying!

#5 Hai Di Lao Sauce for Fish with Pickled Vegetable

We got to try this pickled vegetable soup as it was given out as a free gift during one of our trips! We didn't really enjoy it was really oily. It's meant to be cooked with fish as a fish soup condiment. Thou the soup was not to our liking; the pickled vegetable was surprisingly quite nice.
