Food Review: Nakhon Kitchen (Kovan/Hougang Branch)
10/07/2015
Sometime back, hubby and I celebrated our 99th months dating anniversary by having a pig out at Nakhon Kitchen. It was an impromptu decision and yes we have been to this place previously. We are fans of Thai food, so we welcome them anytime.
Nakhon Kitchen is popular for the array of authentic Thai food served. As expected, there was a long queue awaiting after the office working hours. We headed there for dinner and waited for nearly 45 minutes before getting a seat. The queue was still on-going as we sat down for our dinner.
My hubby is a safe eater, so he order almost exactly the same dishes which we have previously tried before.
You may like to take a look at some of the dishes which we ordered:
Thai Green Curry - The green curry comes in different versions. We ordered the one with chicken. It is quite thick and aromatic. One of our favorite dishes.
Thai Iced Milk Tea - We saw many others ordering this as well. The Ice Milk Tea is not too sweet and milky, we liked it.
Sambal Kangkong - This is a never go wrong dish, go ahead and order this if you are a Kangkong lover.
Thai Pineapple Fried Rice - We were quite disappointed with this fried rice, nothing special and it wasn't even served on a pineapple.
Pandan Chicken- A relatively nice appetizer, full of meat and goes well with the dip
Pandan Chicken unwrapped, showing you how it looks
Sweet and Sour prawn. This dish is not too bad as well.
✓ The dishes comes very quickly and the waiter cleared the plates very fast as well. Although the queue was long, they are very efficient, clean and staff are polite.
✓Prices are reasonable, not overly priced. (Average of $6- $8 per dish),
Approx: Average $15 per pax (not if you ordered the above dishes like us though...)
✓ Thai food served is tasty and in some cases spicy (Tom Yam clear Soup) though nothing much to shout about really.
Visit them if you wish... and remember to go there early and be prepared to queue. Anyone else been to this place? What are your thoughts? Do share in the comments on the blog. :)
