10/01/2021Once upon a time, if anyone offered me any durian products, I would kindly reject them. I only enjoyed the golden flesh, direct from its shell. This was valid, until I've tried The Durian Bakery . I love durians, especially Mao Shan Wang because of its sweet golden flesh and aromatic fragrance which some who dislike may describe as pungent, but somehow I feel durian made products were mostly lacking in flavors, as they were made using cheaper durian variants, and tasted very artificial with little to no durian taste. A lack of an expert bakery in durian goods had lead to the opening of The Durian Bakery. Only premium ingredients are being used here, resulting in rich flavors that makes you come back for more. Their products are freshly baked with no preservative used.

Shop from their Durian Cakes as well as an assortment of cakes such as ice-cream cakes, cheese cakes, chocolate cakes and so many others. They also specialize in pastries, swiss rolls, durian puffs and even macarons. There are so many types of durian products and you can be sure that you are spoiled for choices!

❀ Free island wide delivery for orders $50 and above except on restricted zones.

❀ 4 hours time slot (You can choose your preferred time slot)
❀ Same day 2 hour express delivery option is available at an additional $15, but you need to book 30 minutes in advance.

Our Selection
As my wedding anniversary is coming, I decided to order their Chocolate Mao Shan Wang Mille Crepe cake which happen to be a fusion of 2 of our favourite food, chocolate and Mao Shan Wang durian, to surprise my husband. Look at the layers of the crepe cake, it was a feast for my eyes. This was made with 20 layers of crepe skin, and 19 layers of a combination of thick durian puree and Mao Shan Wang Durian whipping cream . If you are wondering, yes we did tried to count it, but soon gave up after our tummies start growling!
They also offered an opportunity for me to send him a greeting card with some personalized message on it, and I did. Those who required any birthday candles and cake knife, may also opt for them at no additional cost.
The gorgeous Chocolate Mao Shan Wang Mille Crepe cake arrived well dusted with chocolate powder on the top, with beautiful even layers of Mao Shan Wang durian whipped cream and puree in between it was not overpowering or too sweet, it was lovely as we savor through the crepe layers. It tasted best when it was slightly thawed after freezing it.
In addition, we were also recommended with their Mao Shan Wang Pastries Taster Bundle which allows us to try several of their signature pastries at a discounted price. The Bundle consists of:
D24 Snowy Mochi - Box of 6 round smooth and chewy Mochi with fragrant D24 durian puree core. I like its smooth icy puree, best taken when slightly thawed from the fridge.
Dark Choco MSW Mousse - The hard crust dark chocolate filled with Mao Shan Wang Mousse was lovely too! Especially for those who love eating chocolate dessert.
D24 Durian Choux Puff - 12 soft light and airy puffs with D24 puree in them. We like this directly from the freezer, however we feel that they can stuff it with more puree. We couldn't stop eating this, but felt that there was more puff than puree, durian puree was lacking but thankfully the choux puff was nice.
Overall Experience with The Durian Bakery
Delivery was very prompt, within my selected time slot. Both the cake and pastries was beautifully packaged in a box with ribbons on my cake box, birthday topper, cake knife and candles. The personalized message on the card was also beautifully hand written which came as a surprise, as I expected it to be type written.
They have also included a cake care instruction card, which advise you on how to care for your cake. You are advised to keep your cake frozen and to thaw it before consumption. You are also advised to consume it within a day or to keep it maximum for a week in the freezer as they contain no preservatives. Most importantly, we all loved their Mille Crepe and pastries.
