Are you looking for an affordable action camera that is easy to operate, pocket friendly and fits your basic vlogging needs? The LUMOS DOMINATE action camera may just be the one. It is sleek looking and have all the basic functions you require for your on-the-go Vlogs.
I took it out for a leisure walk over a few days to test out some of its functions as a first time user of an action camera. I have been taking photographs and videos using my handphone, DSLR camera and digital camera but have never used an action camera before.
170° Wide Angle Lens/48MP photo, able to capture clear details
Pros:
Tried its camera mode outdoors and found its photo quality to be quite decent for a wide angle lens action camera with 170° Wide Angle Lens. It was able to capture the long adventure bridge, with clear details under the outdoor day light and the image remains sharp. LUMOS DOMINATE can shoot video in 5K Ultra HD and 4K 60FPS, which gives you crystal clear images and sharp footage.
Cons:
As this is an action camera and not specifically build for taking photographs hence there may be certain functions (such as manual focus) which are not available on the LUMOS DOMINATE action camera.
The filter options on LUMOS DOMINATE allows you to switch around easily to achieve different modes such as black and white, negative, nostalgia, brown, warm, cool etc. It was interesting to see the various modes come to life immediately without having to edit the photos.
Different modes can add different meanings and feel to a simple photograph, so it was interesting to be able to do so much with a gadget that is so small and handy.
Regardless of wide angle or zooming function, it gives you clear and sharp images. I liked that I could see a wide angle view and have the flexibility to zoom in up to 5x to see the building in a closer view if I wanted.
I was amazed that The LUMOS DOMINATE was also able to capture the natural sunrays in this photo and somehow made my photo look more alive.
I appreciated that the LUMOS DOMINATE is an easy to operate, not much skills needed action camera. It does takes awhile to get familiar with the various modes and settings, but once you are used to it, it became much easier.
For video recording, I appreciate that it has a Built-In EIS Stabilization which helps to reduce shakiness when i jogged, run or even get on to bumpy trails. My video was able to stay smooth throughout. Do note that for the EIS stabilization function, it is not available on 5K recording.

Dual Screens flexibility
Pros:
You can switch easily between the front and back settings to see what you are filming. This allows easy framing for beautiful sceneries or impromptus selfie shots. For taking selfie shots you can make use of the "Timed photo" function in settings. There are also multiple shooting modes available which allows you to easily switch between shooting a normal video to slow-motion, loop and time-lapse.
Cons:
As the LUMOS DOMINATE action camera has a relatively small screen, you may not be able to see all the details clearly when video taking.
Waterproof Casing is included
As the waterproof case is included without an extra charge, you can take this action camera underwater for a swim shot, for a snorkeling trip or you can simply film it in the rain when you are travelling. There is no need to worry about it getting wet.
However, do ensure that you have checked and locked your case properly to prevent water from entering. This also provided an additional opportunity for wet weather and underwater filming as I find it challenging to do it with my handphone.
The LUMOS DOMINATE action camera has a long battery life (up to 2 hours) and USB-C charging that allows you to charge easily. You can charge with your existing handphone cable, hence there is no need to bring extra cables with you. This is especially helpful when you are travelling.
